“These are just like the ones at home.”

— A MAN FROM PARIS

“On one hand, I want the world to know about you... you should be in Downeast mag! NY Times! But I also want you to remain a small, secret spot... Love your stuff (terribly addictive)!”

— SERENA M.

“Once you eat pastry from "The Place" nothing else matters in the world and all grievances and anxieties disappear. Even if only for a brief moment, in that paradigm everything is beautiful. The Kouign-Amann took me there, the wife as well. Haha Morning Bun? More like "Good Morning Hun" 🤙”

-JONATHAN P.

“Was honored to receive a sample of a few of their treats! Wow, just wow!”

— BEVERLY DOHERTY

“Laminated pastries are having a moment right now all over North America, with dexterous bakers flexing their buttery prowess across a spectrum of different pastries. At the Place, a tiny bakery in Camden, Maine, the ethereally flaky croissant dough (made with local flour and butter) appears in many forms and flavors — swirled into cinnamon buns, folded and sugared into kouign-amanns, layered into loaves. The offerings change weekly, in tune with the seasons and available produce. Which means you’ll have to wait until summer for the savory heirloom tomato Danishes and wild blueberry hand pies. Happily, pastries like the ham and cheese croissants and morning buns dusted with coriander and lemon will tide you over until then.”
