No. We have a teeny tiny kitchen, and we do our best to prevent cross-contamination, but if you have a serious allergy, we’re probably not the best fit for you! We use wheat, nuts, sesame, dairy, eggs
-
Outside of the Summer months, we always have pastry and bread available for those who prefer to walk in!
We switch to pre-order only mid-June to early September

Absolutely! Our products can be revitalized beautifully in the oven - all ovens, toaster ovens, etc are different, but the general rule of thumb is lower heat and fan on if you’ve got one. About five minutes will bring those beauties back to life!
Most products can be frozen! You may want to check with us about the best methods or ask about any items with fillings, as the textures of certain creams and custards can alter when frozen!

At this time we have a limited capacity for custom orders. If you’d like to reach out about a special order please email us at hey@thisistheplace.me

117 Elm St (Route 1) in Camden, Maine.
We’re right between to the old run down gas station (McDucks) & the Cedar Crest Inn at the top of the hill south of the village.
Our bakery is in what was once a woodworking shop beside our home that’s been converted over; so if you pull in to our driveway and think… is this The Place? Sure is friend. pull back behind the bakery to our parking lot and come on in!

“On one hand, I want the world to know about you... you should be in Downeast mag! NY Times! But I also want you to remain a small, secret spot... Love your stuff (terribly addictive)!”
— SERENA M.
“Once you eat pastry from "The Place" nothing else matters in the world and all grievances and anxieties disappear. Even if only for a brief moment, in that paradigm everything is beautiful. The Kouign-Amann took me there, the wife as well. Haha Morning Bun? More like "Good Morning Hun" 🤙”
-JONATHAN P.
“Was honored to receive a sample of a few of their treats! Wow, just wow!”
— BEVERLY DOHERTY
“Laminated pastries are having a moment right now all over North America, with dexterous bakers flexing their buttery prowess across a spectrum of different pastries. At the Place, a tiny bakery in Camden, Maine, the ethereally flaky croissant dough (made with local flour and butter) appears in many forms and flavors — swirled into cinnamon buns, folded and sugared into kouign-amanns, layered into loaves. The offerings change weekly, in tune with the seasons and available produce. Which means you’ll have to wait until summer for the savory heirloom tomato Danishes and wild blueberry hand pies. Happily, pastries like the ham and cheese croissants and morning buns dusted with coriander and lemon will tide you over until then.”
